Surf Dads, Socks & Secret Wishlists: A Father's Day Special

Father’s Day is rolling in like a clean set at high tide, so we thought we’d paddle out and catch up with a few of our favourite Newquay surf dads.

From practical picks and boardroom banter to flip-flop-approved socks and full-on dad jokes, we asked them what they’re loving at 10 Over Surf Shop - and what they wouldn’t mind unwrapping this Father’s Day (hint, hint).

Whether you're shopping for your old man or just here for the punchlines, these legends have got you covered.

Chris Thomson - father of Dylan, Joel and Summer Thomson… and apparently not done yet, since he’s also the proud dad of Marwick Marketing, 10 Over Surf shop, Longboarder Magazine, Wavelength, and the UK Surf & Skate Expo. Someone get this guy a Father's Day card for each business quick!

For a bit of fun we decided to ask around the Newquay Boardriders surf dads to see what their shop faves are and what they'd like from 10 Over Surf shop for Father's Day.

Joe Gillespie - father of Fynn, Heath and Bo Gillespie.

“To be honest, there’s a lot I really like on the site…

“The only problem is, whenever I order something new, I rarely get to wear it - the boys usually intercept it first. I don’t get a look in until they’ve worn it out, and by then it’s pretty much destroyed!

“So, my choices are: order something they wouldn’t be caught dead in (which usually makes me look like I’m having a mid-life crisis - even my 9 year old won’t be seen with me), or just accept their hand-me-downs and call it a win.

“My dad merch pics would be the CF Slasher 8” Longboard fin for my longboard and a nice Captain Fin Co shirt. Both of which are no interest to the boys!”

Joe’s mid-life crisis plan: let the kids have the clothes, keep the fins.

John Eldridge - father of Axel, Raz and Dusty Eldridge.

“I’ll take the Noodle Arms coffee Mug. Not from surfing…but carrying all the kids boards to the beach and back.”

John says it’s the boards… we say it’s the excuse.

Eddie Wilson - father of Oli, Toby, Millie and Louis Wilson.

"I'd like the Surflogic Wetsuit Hanger Magnetic Hook, C-Monsta and Waterhaul Wetsuit Hanger, Northcore Camo car seat cover, Lightning Bolt Surf Co Shaka T-shirt and a yearly subscription to Longboarder Magazine.

"Proper dad picks these. Keeping everything in order and in place with a little bit of reading material whilst the groms grovel!"

Basically: peak organisational dad energy… with just enough time left to read about people who still get to surf.

David Mason - father of Jack Mason.

We're assuming that's high out of the kids reach right?

Pete Hughes - father of two very grown up children Josh and Jack Hughes.

"The lads promised me a pair of Pitdog Union Of Surf Sunglasses - we'll see!

"Or maybe a Northcore Camo car seat cover would be nice, just not sure I could *see myself* using it...

"If I got a Katin Swell Sweater and had problems with static electricity would you please replace it with something free of charge...

"What did the 10 Over Surf shop Trucker Cap say to the C-Monsta Wetsuit Hanger? You hang in there and I'll go ahead...

"Well, you did ask for dad jokes!"

Pete didn’t just bring the dad jokes - he backed up the whole trucker cap full of them.
