In the Family of Things - New Surf Film
A reading of Mary Oliver’s poem ‘Wild Geese’ opens the latest collaboration between long time creative partners, Nathan Oldfield and Dave Rastovich. Shot over consecutive mornings during a long run of North Coast autumn swell, ‘In the Family of Things’ is Dave in his element, doing his thing. Which is all it needs to be.
This stunning piece of cinematography and surfing brings together how the ocean is part of our family and how we are part of a bigger picture, featuring some of the most graceful creatures on the planet. This fits Dave Rastovich’s surfing beautifully, with his calm powerful style. This short film feels like a celebration of the ocean and all it has to offer.
Dave’s way of surfing feels like he is working with the wave and communicating with the ocean with the way he is navigating intricate barrels, tearing apart open faces and riding of different surfboards with ease.
