Boardmasters Foundation 2023 - £115,000 Donated
Vision Nine, the organisers behind Cornwall's renowned surf and music extravaganza, Boardmasters, proudly reveal that the 2023 edition has amassed an impressive £115,492 in support of the Boardmasters Foundation.
This marks the highest sum ever raised since the Foundation's inception. Individuals, groups, charities, and organizations aligning with the Foundation's core pillars – Culture and Community – are now invited to submit their funding applications for the upcoming year.
Established in 2017, the Boardmasters Foundation emerged from the collective desire of the festival team to give back and champion the culture and communities integral to the annual event held at Fistral Beach and Watergate Bay. The recently disclosed 2023 funding total surpasses £436,000 since the Foundation's inception, reflecting a remarkable 35% increase in the last two years alone.
As the 2023 funding cycle kicks off, interested parties falling within the Foundation's focus areas of Community and Culture can apply by visiting boardmasters.com/community. The application deadline is set for Friday, January 5th, at 5 pm.
Previous funds distributed by the Boardmasters Foundation supported 38 diverse charities, projects, schools, and initiatives across Cornwall and beyond. Beneficiaries included Wave Women UK, Schools Consent Project, Black Voices Cornwall, Cornwall Food Action, Newquay train station toilets, Concrete Waves, and Children’s Hospice South West. Local schools such as Mawgan-in-Pydar Community Primary School, Newquay Junior Academy, Newquay Tretherras, St Columb Major ACE Academy, St Columb Minor ACE Academy, The Bishops’ C of E Learning Academy, Trenance Learning Academy, Trevisker Community Primary School, and Treviglas Academy were also recipients.
CEO of Vision Nine and Boardmasters Foundation founder, Andrew Topham, expressed enthusiasm, stating, "Our 2023 total of over £115,000 is yet another rewarding success, meaning we can encourage even more Newquay and Cornwall-based organizations to consider applying." Topham emphasized the Foundation's commitment to fostering impactful initiatives and programs that address contemporary challenges and positively impact lives.
Highlighting their ambitions, Topham noted, "We seek to support some projects and charities with one-off donations, while continuing to work with our long-term partners with longer-term investment programs." He anticipates a robust set of applications that can genuinely make a perceptible, lasting difference in and around Newquay and across Cornwall.
